The scrub top has become one of the single most varied and fashion expressed item of clothing in the garment industry. It used to be that you had a choice of green or blue and sometimes, even gray, but that was it. The Scrub tops were all the solid, pull over type of top that are still used to this day, but now the range of choices is so wide that it is impossible to cover the whole range entirely in one page.
Scrubs are so insanely popular that people have begun to wear them as articles of street clothing, and they are wearing he pants, too. Scrubs are the de-facto uniform of nurses, nurse’s aids, hospital service staff, and other healthcare workers, with the exception of doctors, who still wear the famous white lab coat. It could be imagined that doctors might just be getting jealous of nurses and all of their fashion choices. That’s ok, nurses are the top sergeants of the healing army and should be afforded every convenience.
Scrub Top Types
There are several different types of scrub top, not counting the colors, styles, and fashion adaptations. There is the ubiquitous pullover type, which is still a very popular type. There are also the stretch fabrics, long-sleeved type that can be worn alone or under the normal, classic scrub top. Then you have the wrap-around and the crossover. These are scrub tops that are can be opened and have a front that wraps around at an angle.
There are zippered and snap front types as well. Some are designed to be tucked in and other are long and loose-fitting (often called “men’s v-neck top”). They can be worn in combination with jacket scrub tops or the jackets can be worn instead alone. Got all of that? Ok, now it’s time to consider the fabrics, prints, and patterns, or possibly the cartoon, sports team and other fashion types that one can choose from. Boy!, its sure hard to decide what to wear when you’re a nurse now-a-days, huh?
